I enjoy cleaning up old images, wiping away the dirt and blemishes of the years, and restoring the image back to sharpness. Plus it's fascinating to see how people lived!
This image was used in the Norwich Historical Society brochure. The "original" that I scanned was a tinted photograph of a photograph. Plenty of dust and stains, slightly dark and soft focus. Adjusting the levels in Photoshop gave a better balance and contrast to the image. Other filters helped restore sharpness and enhance the details. Finally, I tinted it with a warm brown tone to give it that "aged" look I'd worked so hard to remove!
