This was the original photo we used for the cover. Land only knows what she's leaning against. It had to go, but what to do with her arm?

Clearly, a marguerite is called for! The couple were colorized to accentuate them from the background, and his beach ball became the restaurant's logo

This was the second edition of the cover, a year and a half later. Now we colorized the entire image, including the beach, pier and other swimmers, in addition to a new sky, created in KPT Bryce. The logo went back onto a beach ball. The ball, as well as the biplane pulling the banner were modeled and rendered in Animation:Master.

The patterns for the swimming suits were created in Painter, using various filters and distortions to create mod fabrics. Back in Photoshop, I manipulated the original suits to create channels of highlights and shadows. Once I applied the new pattern to the suit areas, I used these channels to bring back the shading of the original suits.
