This was the original photo. The films certainly date the image, as does the woman walking down the street with the mink stole.

Since the proportions of the original photo didn't fill the 8.5 x 14 format of the menu, I had to add a lot more sidewalk. I put the Molly's Balloon logo on it like a chalk drawing.

Other changes:

"Sutton" became "Molly's" above and below the marquee, the features on the marquee, the banner beneath the marquee, and the signage on the building over the crowd (which is very amusing as Hanover, NH looks nothing like this). The people not in line for Molly's remained in black and white, while the Molly's patrons are a colorful lot!

The above menu cover was a great success, based on the number of menus stolen (!) and the positive comments they received. How could we resist re-releasing it a year or so later?

The main change was shifting to a night scene, with hidden streetlights illuminating the crowd. The logo is now in color, lit by a spotlight on the corner of the marquee. Some of the people in the crowd received brighter clothes. The girl at the end sports a Dartmouth College letter jacket. A couple of balloons add to the festivities, and a note on the town manager's window explains where he's gone for dinner.

This was the last of this series of menus. Molly's Balloon changed its name to Molly's, and redesigned the restaurant's interior. The current menu covers are old phonograph albums, but I design the interior of the main menu, as well as the drink menu.
