The happy bacterium is a simple 3D model I created and rendered in Animation:Master (A:M). The one model was repeated, and each rotated slightly differently to create the chain of attacking bacteria. The knight model is available with the A:M software. I merely posed him, and gave him a worn, but nicely monogrammed, Shield of Antibiotics!

For the water story, the marketing director wanted to have a stop-motion photograph of a drop of water just as it hits a puddle. Good images of this sort are easy to find at stock photo libraries, but the licensing fees were higher than APD wished to pay. So, I launched A:M and half an hour later had a fine drop, replete with reflections. Tinting it with the blue ink, it became a nice focal point for the page, and gave a delicate underpinning to the story.

The illustration of the spinal block is a combination of drawings supplied by the equipment manufacturer. I reworked them in Photoshop, and added the blue color to make it more eye-catching.
